Dr. Samantha Slotnick OD, FAAO, FOVDR.
Dr. Samantha Slotnick brings a distinctive and integrative perspective to eye and vision care. With undergraduate studies in behavioral psychology and physical chemistry, she went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from SUNY College of Optometry, where she also completed a Residency in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation and advanced studies in Vision Science. She has dedicated more than a decade to vision research, spanning both functional and anatomical aspects, and continues to expand the field through her clinical innovations.
At her private practice, Mind-Body-World Optometry in Scarsdale, NY, Dr. Slotnick provides holistic, patient-centered care in behavioral optometry, vision therapy, and neuro-optometric vision rehabilitation. Serving both children and adults, her practice integrates passive interventions—such as glasses, lenses, and prisms—with active therapies designed to restore and optimize functional vision.
Her training in visual-motor development has led to the creation of Lens-based Postural Therapy, harnessing the visual system to impact posture, balance and gait. She attributes her collaboration with Physical Therapist Michal Niedzielski, MPT, PRC, as a major influence for tapping into the power of lenses beyond visual comfort and clarity. Her unique prescribing approach, enlisting lenses to subtly modify binocular visual perception for global effects on body tension and movement, has made her a sought-after collaborator amongst integrative clinicians, including holistic dentist, Laura Torrado, DDS.
Dr. Slotnick attained Fellowship in both the American Academy of Optometry and the Optometric Vision Development & Rehabilitation Association. A passionate educator, she has spent over two decades advancing clinical education through publications, seminars, and regional programs, while also consulting with patients and professionals both in person and through virtual platforms.
She also supports community education: She is the author of the children’s book, But MOMMY, I can SEE!, which helps families understand the therapeutic use of lenses, and directs readers to eye-care providers specializing in learning-related vision problems worldwide.
